The government has introduced a 1.25% Health & Social Care Levy, which will come into effect from April 2022.
For the first year, the Levy will take the form of an increase to National Insurance Contributions. To educate the public of this change, the Government has requested that payslips created within the April 2022-23 period are updated to display the following message:
1.25% uplift in NICs funds NHS, health & social care
The Government has not been prescriptive in the whereabouts of the message, just that it should appear on the payslip. This change is a request which has not been enforced through legislation – this is not a compulsory addition. From April 2023, the Health & Social Care Levy will appear as a separate tax on the payslip, so the messaging will no longer be required.
For information on how to set payslip message in the SD Worx solutions please see the detailed guidance which can be found on SD Worx Trustworx
