The government delivered over 35 proposed bill as part of the Kings Speech 2024.

So what does the Kings speech mean for employers and their employees and workers?

The proposed Employment Rights Bill is claimed to be a significant step towards delivering the Government’s plan to make work pay – what they claim to be the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation.  

it bring a ban exploitative zero-hours contracts, the end fire and rehire practices, and introduce basic employment rights from day one.  

And through changes to the Low Pay Commission, they are to 0make sure that the minimum wage is a genuine living wage and remove various age differentials. 

We will watch this space for details of a new single enforcer of employment rights who act in similar way to National Minimum Wage enforcement.

Employers will need to follow closely the impacts on their working arrangements, review contractual terms, and align with new legal requirements for minimum wage.
